So, back to our quest to find the perfect boxer! I've been researching boxers to adopt through Boxer Rescue LA (BRLA) for about a month. When we were at the adoption event on Sunday, Drew and I spoke, at length, to a volunteer from BRLA. While there were no dogs there that we could adopt, she was certain that we could find a match either at their shelter sight or through an owner surrender.
Amazingly, I received a call today from another BRLA representative. A little, 6-year-old girl is available because her owners are losing their house and can't keep her when they move. Knowing how much I love my dogs, I can't imagine what this boxer's owners must be going through. Their heartbreaking loss may become our gain. We are going to set up a meeting with our whole family and the boxer, who is named...wait for it...Gracie! Yeah, we'll have to change the poor girl's name. =) I'll keep everyone posted on how the meeting goes. It will happen sometime between now and Friday. If Gracie fits in with our family, she will come home with us that same day! We are cautiously optimistic. Obviously, we want a boxer. However, we also want to find the perfect one. We'll be praying that Gracie will be ours!
Now, you may wonder why I am blogging about a new dog on Gracie's sight. The answer is simple! This dog will "be" Gracie's. Drew and I have heard that boxers are among the top dogs to have with children. They are known to become very bonded to the youngest members of their family. We hope that our new dog will form a bond with Gracie. She adores our current dogs, but they merely tolerate her. Gracie needs a pup that loves her as much as she loves it! Check back soon for an update!
