New Teeth!

Gracie didn't get her first teeth until she was 7 months. This made me quite happy. Seeing those teeth peek through her pink gums made me feel like she was growing up! So, since Gracie's teeth came in at 7 months, Jackson's would come in around the same time, right? Ha! Wrong! Silly me. Nearly everything about my two kids is completely different. This shouldn't really surprise me as my sister and I are night and day, apples and oranges, soda and water, hard and s...well, you get the picture. Anyway, back to my kids.

When I took Jackson in for his two month check-up, our doctor informed me that his lower gums were already "swelling" indicating that his teeth were brewing just beneath the surface. I wasn't aware of the swelling until it was pointed out to me, but there was no way I could miss the fact that my son was a drool monster. However, when there was zero showing of any teeth by his four month check-up, I began to build hope that his chompers may hold off as long as Gracie's had. Fast forward one more month...

Jackson has been fussier than usual again and seems to find comfort in chowing on his hand. Even in my state of denial, I had to admit that things weren't looking good. Sure enough, my son is not longer toothless. During a particularly wide smile earlier this week, I saw it. There, in the left-center of his lower gums, was a teeny tiny tooth. The right-center tooth is soon to follow, too. I can see it sitting there right below the surface of his gums. Though this is a sure sign that my son is ready for kindergarten (ok, not really, but you know what I mean), I am slightly relieved that this first tooth made its appearance. Jackson is much less fussy. He seems to be weathering the second tooth cutting much better than he did the first. Yay!

I've been attempting to get a picture, but have yet to succeed. As soon as I do, I'll upload it here!
