On Sunday we took Gracie to the arboretum. I've been wanting to do this FOREVER!! Gracie absolutely loves to be outside, so I've been thinking that she'd enjoy going there. While she did have fun, it was a little hot for all of us.

Gracie's favorite moment,however, was when we found the lake. The ducks and geese were lounging on the dirt, eating, swimming, and sunning themselves. Gracie's love of animals lead us to hang out at this spot for quite some time! I was a little fearful of the geese. After all, I've heard that they are not the kindest birds. Luckily, this flock seemed used to people wandering in their midst. =) They were extremely polite. I even saw them eating straight out of a woman's hand at one point. Another animal that caught Gracie's eye was a little squirrel. He seemed quite content hanging out with the humans. Gracie and I were watching him for a while when he suddenly ran right up to us. I think he thought we had food. When he realized that we had nothing to offer, he trotted away to the same woman who was feeding the geese.

Our time at the arboretum may not have been what I was hoping for, but it was still a nice family outing. I really hope that Drew and I are able to take our kids on lots of fun little trips. Outings with my parents are among my favorite childhood memories. My wish is that I am able to give my children memories just like mine!
